House Greyjoy of Pyke is one of the Great Houses of Westeros. It rules over a harsh and bleak collection of islands off the west coast of Westeros, called the Iron Islands. Greyjoy’s power dates back to the Age of Heroes, when the Grey King was reigned. During Robert’s Rebellion, House Greyjoy declared for House Baratheon. Balon Greyjoy declared sovereignty and seceded from the Seven Kingdoms, but the rebellion was put down. House Greyjoy bent the knee to King Robert Baratheon and the Kingdom of the Iron Islands became exctinct.

During the War of the Five Kings, Balon declared himself King of the Iron Islands, restoring the Kingdom of the Iron Islands and seceding from the Seven Kingdoms. Euron, Balon’s brother and murderer, became the new King of the Iron Islands after Balon’s death which led to the division Greyjoy between Euron and his followers, and Balon’s children Yara and Theon. After being set free by Theon, Yara took the Iron Islands in Daenerys’s name. The death of Euron and Theon left Yara as the head and last living member of House Greyjoy.
